Gorthalen didn't create the character of Slenderman, he's been around for a
while albeit I'd not heard of him before.
one of the points about Slenderman is that he is mysterious and there isn't
any evidence of who he is or what he is hence why you are trying to find
diary pages about him in the game, so the static is a good representation of
such a mysterious character. Personally i don't really think that much to a
monster who has so little presence it's not even certain how he kills
people, very different from say Freddy Kruger, indeed from what I gather it
is more how slenderman looks that is supposed to be scary so I don't
personally find him that bad, still I do give Gorthalen credit for creating
a sense of mystery in audio even if I personally find the mystery a little
pointless.
