Hello everyone.
I would like to let everyone know that I have put a donation button on
www.audyssey.org. This is completely voluntary and will not be targeted
to any one person specifically.
The purpose for this donation button is to try and get donations from
people who wish to contribute to Audyssey. The money will be used only
for one of two things.
1. Maintaining the audyssey.org domain registered. Because the
registration for domains these days is very low, this is not that much
of a cost.
2. Maintaining the web space and mailing list. This one is the biggest
cost due to the nature of the mailing list size and the space for the
domain. The web host we use www.emwd.com is a special dedicated host for
mailing lists. This means that we can have a large list and the mails
will not be delaid or bottle-necked like with other web hosts.
If you remember, when we first got audyssey.org, we went with a web host
called bluehost.com. We chose them because of their awesome web host
packages and the low price. The problem with them and many other hosts
is that you are limited to 250 messages per hour. Some do a 24 hour
count and limit you to 2500 messages in a 24 hour period. If there are
200 list members, this will quickly fill the queue and make mail very
slow. So, when searching for a web host provider, I had to find one
which would allow mailing lists of our size. WWW.EMWD.COM was one such
host and they have been great.
Please do not take this email as any sort of hidden message that
audyssey will go away. No one's list access or membership will be
affected in any way, shape, or form no matter if they donate or not. I
only do this in the hopes that list members and / or magazine readers
will want to help the continuation of the domain.
In order to make a donation through the web page, you will need to do it
through Paypal. I feel this is a safe way to do this because Paypal will
protect you the sender, and me the receiver.
