I don't use XP or IE here, so can't guaranty this will work, but one option might be to change the user agent of IE8. If you do this, SendSpace will think you're visiting using the browser you've set your user agent to, and will serve up their pages optimized for that browser rather than IE8, so stuff might display oddly. There's not a GUI option for this in IE8 so far as I could tell, so your two options are either to modify it using Regedit, or use an addon. A quick Google search turned up the following tutorial to grab a free addon, seemed straight forward at a glance:
