Two reasons.
Firstly the stuff you can craft is always better quality per level than what
you can buy. secondly, you can put crafted items into the vault (once you
have unlocked it) and thus have them available for another character which
is nice, although sinse the vault is limited in space you need to choose
carefully.
Crafting is apparently the way to really advance and is absolutely necessary
for some of the really tough later challenges, although I've not got that
far yet myself.

equipped. Also note that you can only sell potions, weapons and armor,
not crafting materials.
In the shop, you have the three tabs for armours, potions and weapons,
when you have gone past the stock of whichever you should find your
inventory listed (just flick through).
Selling an item is basically the same process as buying one, just double
tap on whatever you want to sell and you'll see it's info up top
including it's value, ie, how much it sells for and a sell button, flick
to it and tap.
