As I said, I think the extra rewards aren't so much a sale as a kickstarter
style "donate to us for a bit of random rewards" rather than an attempt to
actually sell specific upgrades to the game, indeed I suspect they're as
expensive as they are sinse I imagine once you've created a ship or campaign
name or whatever it'll go into the game for a future version for everyone to
try, and thus will need recording by their voice artist.
If you don't want to donate and just want to buy the game, that is fine.

I definitely won't be spending that much on it. for the comparatively small
extras of being able to customize a name or 2, I personally don't think
that
the extra outlay is worth it. now if one could for example customize your
ship's features, get access to more and/or better weapons, better sensors,
faster engines and such, and/or unlock more or different missions, those
would be the sorts of things that I for one would seriously think about
forking out extra for.

I will be downloading this one as well. However, I'm very reluctant to
spend
over €200 on an audio game. I don't know what this comes to in Australian
dollars but if it means getting your name the credits for purchasing the
gold edition, it's something to think about. This is one of my favourite
game genres.
