Really great your not doing the torrent route, since your absolutely correct
the option would be inconvenient for a lot of people, and 7zip is at least
very easy to use, indeed you might want to add to the faq that people can
use 7zip by just going to the context menu in windows explorer and using the
"extract here" option.

I'm not sure if a download manager will work, but you should be able to
brows file indices and download that way.
I don't have any interest in trying to set up a torrent for the archive,
because of the software and complexity requirements.
It was actually brought up during our server issues, and turned down for
the
reason that if we require advanced software knowledge like that, then a
lot
of people are likely going to be put off by it.
I'm alright with requiring 7-zip because of its ease of use and the amount
of storage space I've saved, but its still probably costing us some
visitors.
