How about if 6 people, one at a time, borrow the book, record a section of 
it, then the sections are spliced?  If you borrow the book, return it in 
time, then I do the same thing, the recording time is expanded by two times. 
A third person does the same, and the fourth, and so on.  Also, is there 
anything preventing you from borrowing it twice, with a space of time in 
between?  Surely the law won't stop you from wanting to reread a book?  It 
may take a long time to record the entire book, but at least it would be 
recorded.
