ok. step 1. go to volume control. step 2. go to properties. and then proceed to select stereo mix. next, go back to properties and select playback, don't press enter yet though. press tab. there is a menu with a bunch of checkboxes that will be displayed in the main window to control. make sure microphone is checked. if not, then check it, and press enter. look around, microphone will be there. uncheck the checkbox that says, "mute". it should work. regards, aaron
