at the same time, if you have no other way of backing it up ... i have plenty of ways but there might be some people who don't have any ways of backing up. my plan when i start selling is to have a similar policy to bsc games and steve-audio - three licence keys per year, although i'm still looking for a simple registration system, because mine seem to have big flaws in them, as my old one used to randomly select letters and numbers and write it to the registry, so it would be very easy to crack.
