Hi Andy, With a game like Shades of Doom, (SOD,) remembring at all times what direction you are traveling is esentual for completing the level. For example, the first hallway you start out in runs from East to West, and you are initially facing West. As you travel West there will be two doors off to your left, or I believe the South side of the hallway. Anyway, when you enter say the first room you will be facing South. Enter it kill any monsters, gather up any items, and face North to find the door on the wall to exit. Now, which direction were you heading before you entered this room? If you answered West you got it. Since you are facing North you need to make a left to continue down the first hallway. Often I have found what confuses most newbies to games like Shades of Doom and Sarah is the gamer in question fails to keep track of what direction he or she was moving before encountering a room, fight with a monster, etc. What ends up happening is the gamer ends up going say East back up the hall he/she just came down rather than going West which was the correct direction. Another thing is in SOD you should set navigation to full until you know your way around the levels. With Navigation set to full it will tell you such things as there is a hallway to the left, hallway to the right, the room ends but you can go left, etc. Finally, if you are in a room the x key will give you the description of the room and tell you where the doors are in the room.
