I could be wrong here, but the ability to select Sam as a voice is not necessarily indicative of Sapi 5.0 or higher being on the system. If you cannot select Mary as a voice, install Sapi 5.1 from this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=5E86EC97-40A7-453F-B0EE-6583171B4530&displaylang=en
look for: speechsdk51msm.exe Then the download button right beneath that I have had a couple of systems running Rail Racer that had problems with Sapi, it has been because either SAPI 5.0 or higher was not installed, or 3rd party voices were conflicting.
