SoundRTS is a game where time is of the essence. You need to build a
farm and a barracks and be recruiting fresh troops before the first
invasion takes place. You don't have time to do anything else but
get several footmen into the field at first. Station them forward by
setting the rally point for the barracks to B2 or even C2, so that
your troops are in position as soon as they are recruited.
Pay attention to the wounded troops and send them back to your town
hall square (A2?) for healing, then get them immediately back on the line.
You will next need to build another farm, then a sawmill so you can
recruit archers. Obviously, you are using your peasants to mine gold
and harvest wood all the while to do this. Keep in mind too that
your sawmill can make your archers more effective, as the blacksmith
can your footmen. You'll need to upgrade both in order to take on
large enemy forces.
