The game is made for the blind by drilling holes in one colored piece or the other, I don't recall which, but I found it unnecessary, as the set I once had contained all identical checkers. One side was red and had a raised star on it that could be easily felt when placed on the board. The black side had an eagle on it which could also be easily recognized. No modification to the game was needed. The design may have been changed since then, but it was cool to find a game that needed no modification, and this was back in the late sixties or early seventies. The game designed for, and sold to, the blind was, of course, like all such products, far more costly. I think it was at least double the price.
