Hi, I've played the game a few times. I've found, there's one way to avoid the walls. When you walk out in the open, your footsteps are not that loud. If you have a wall on your right or left, or walk towards one ahead, your footsteps will get louder, and it will sound a bit like when you walk towards a wall in reality. I hope, this helps a little. Also, remember that if you are walking in the area, where you can hear cars, you may get run over, if you try to cross the road.
