Hi Lora, Yes, I'm also getting back into Interactive Fiction as well, I'll try and give you an overview. Many games take different interpreters. Sorry if I'm explaining what you already know, but am just not sure how much you've played Interactive Fiction before. Interpreters open the game files like word processor, you get different interpreters that can be used in Windows like Tads, Frotz, etc. I think your best bet is when you go to the interactive fiction archive, for each year of the interactive fiction competition they put together a nice installer of all games and interpreters of that year. I still can't use .z80 files, but that is just that I'm not good at converting them with the command line tools. The interactive fiction archive will have everything for you, maybe you should download the ashes.exe file from the /starters directory, but you can email me off-list if you have problems. As for the Pac Mate, I've heard you can play IF on it, but it was me who asked the questions, as I am having trouble in getting frotz for the pocket pc to load games, as well as tads to even read the screen properly. I think I'll try and write to Freedom Scientific to see whether they can't make it more accessible with scripts or something. If you want me to send you privately, I have got some games which are really cool beginner games for interactive fiction, you just choose from a menue. Ari
