Hi Ken

Okay I kind of get the idea but what do the balls have to do with it?
Sorry if this is dense. Had the in-laws over and some wine. *grin*

Subject: [Audyssey] Say What!

I got the Say What game for Christmas--early!
It's a great game, and totally accessible.
It has three skill levels (easy, medium, and hard,) and four games--timed
mode, guess mode, timed extreme mode and guess extreme mode. When you
start, you can select up to four players (I think it's four,) and the skill
level and game. Then, you press start--a big round button very easy to
differentiate from the rest.
There are hundreds of phrases, and depending on how well you do the
difficulty increases. On the easy skill level it gives you more time in the
next round if you missed one. Usually, there are five rounds unless there's
a tie between two players. In timed mode, the time starts at 30 and goes
down 5 seconds per round. In guess mode, you get 5 guesses and they
decrease by 1 per round. That's not a whole lot of time and guesses to
unscramble that phrase.
Yeah, I know, you're just dying to ask me, "How do you play it!"
There are five balls--well, half balls anyway. You have to keep the game
put up in a safe place so you don't lose any of them. Anyway, when you
start a scrambled phrase is spoken--and if it comes from a song it is often
sung. Then, you rearrange the balls until you get them in the right order.
I don't mean that you simply press ball-shaped buttons, you physically take
balls off and put them in new places until you've got it right. It takes
time, but if you're stuck there's a hint button you can press a
s well. The hints tell you where the phrase came from--music, pop culture,
movies and so on.
This game is a great game to play alone, but an even better party game
provided you can keep all the balls together and on the game. The only
thing I would change is that the quicker you solve the puzzle, the more
points you would get. In the game, you always get one point per unscrambled
phrase. My seven-year-old daughter hates hand-held electronic games. I
guess they bore her, but she asked my wife to get this for her for Christmas
before I ever told her about it, so it's sure to be something you can
share with the whole family.
You can get it at just about anywhere in the states, and there's a sight
called firebox.com that sells it too--just google it.
You can put this in the mag if you want too--I know there are lots of
readers who aren't on the mailing list, and I want everybody to know about
all the games that are accessible.
Enjoy the game!
