Thanks, that makes sense.

I'm not sure about running dos aplications in xp. I've tried a couple of 
games like fallthrough and annacrion, but they ran incredibly slowly and had 
problems crashing. The only time I've ever got Dos applications to work 
properly in windows is when they've come with a pre-customized version of 
dosbox, and I don't unfortunately know enough about dos to try and work 
through dosbox myself to get something like fallthrough running correctly.

the only dos games I've successfully run are the infocom ones, and that's 
entirely thanks to win frotz.
