I couldn't get it to work on my new computer either. I have the same
soundcard and stereo mix and microphone wouldn't work together. If I
disable microphone I can't hear it, and if I set stereo mix as the default I
only hear sounds from programs and jaws. I tested this with sound recorder.
The guys at circuit city said I didn't need a sound blaster gamer card that
I had the best card already, but it wont let me record a game with narration
on top of it either.
