appologies Jeremy, the tutorial command for the console is just tut, and not the hole word tutorial. Here's a step by step guide which I've checked on my copy of the game, if this does not work I'm afraid i'm out of ideas.
1: unload Jaws and launch audio quake. 2: press s, then enter, you will now here sapi say "welcome to quake" and begin playing of the quake demo with sapi saying messages such as "the necropolis" "you got the shells" etc. 3: press the graav key (the one next to the number one on your keyboard, you should now here Sapi say "entering console" 4: if you now type t u t and press enter you should begin the tutorial.
