I just recently found a game called Dragon Tavern. I don't know if many of you
will be interested, but here goes anyway.

Dragon tavern is basically a non-automated version of progress quest, for those
of you that have heard of that game. Progress quest was a game that wasn't a
game. Basically you rolled up a character and the computer then played for you,
fighting your combat, moving you back and forth from the town, getting quests,
etc. Well, here we have Dragon Tavern, a game very much similar. There's not
much to do, you start out in the dragon tavern and pick a location, then
adventure in that location till your loot bag is full or you need to heal and
go back to the tavern where your loot is auto-sold and your wounds are cleared.
You then check the shops to see if you can afford any upgrades, spend skill
points at the skill trainer if you have them, and go back out for more loot.
Sadly this game doesn't have quests, and I'm not sure if it will, there's no
real indication anywhere how far along this game is or how long its been
around. But there is one thing that sets it apart from your everyday grinder,
there's 3 kingdoms, each with about 8 classes. Each kingdom and each class has
its own, rather verbose history, that can be interesting to read. The classes
are not conventional, warrior, mage, thief, etc, they're all set apart and
original. Try warmaster, skyguard, steamcrafted, bone lord, etc. Some of them
are extremely cool to conceptualize. Each class also has its own set of armor,
weapons and support gear. For example, skyguards have your convensional armor
and wield lances, flying above the battlefield on massive winged mounts like
silverclaw eagles or wyverns, depending on how high in the ranks of mounts you
are. Warmasters, on the other hand, they have two sets of support gear, one is
their troop to command, yes, they actually command an army, and the other is
their army's banner. Their equipment, weapons and armor, equips the entire
troop. Sadly the game is so simplistic that most of this is very much
conceptual, as in you have to imagine a lot of it rather than it actually being
an advanced troop system. The combat is nothing special either, basically it
just gives you a bunch of numbers which signify how your stats compare to the
monsters stats, then it rolls random numbers fighting fantasy style, and
whoever wins the number roll inflicts a wound until someone's wounds reaches
their max limit and they fall. Its more interesting than the HP system and just
slightly more realistic, but like I said, nothing really special. The lands you
explore, however, also have little descriptions written about them that go
briefly into their history and what you can expect to find there, and you can
find sub-area's which are more like dungeons with bosses and the like, but so
far, unless its a very rare encounter, I don't think its possible to actually
beat the dungeon and find a lot of the treasure hordes mensioned in several of
the descriptions.

Anyway there you have it. The game plays with an action point system, you get
25 action points per day, 50 if you're hardcore, but you can donate for more if
you're so inclined. The game has no PVP element that I know of, so even though
it plays a bit like legend of the green dragon, your character will always be
safe no matter how powerful or weak you are. I recommend giving it a look, for
a game with such simplistic mechanics it definitely has some advanced concepts.
I'm not sure how much its being worked on at all, but with a lot of work and
patience this game could, in its own right, become awesome. I don't see it
being much more than a grinder though, but give it a look if you're so inclined.
