Hi Anthony,
DirectX is a very important set of multimedia components developed by
Microsoft for Windows games. It handles various
aspects of both accessible and mainstream games such as handling
joysticks, keyboard input, mouse input, audio, 3d graphics, you name it.
It is a necessity if you are going to be playing games on the Windows
platform.
