Hi Nicol,
There are several good reasons to turn your screen off.
1. You save energy and electricity.
2. You keep the room cooler in the summer as many old CRT monitors generate a lot of heat.
3. You extend the life of the monitor.
4. You get the same amount of privacy as sighted people do when they turn down their sound or don't have a speech program running. If they force you to have your monitor on, then you should force them to use a screen reader so you know what they are doing on their computers.
Smiles,
Phil

The reason why I cannot turn off my monitor if I play a game like sarah.
The people that share the flat with me will get suspicious if my screen is
off if for example the lady enters my room to check my clothes etc.
She will ask me why my screen is off.
]she will suspect something.
