well, I do see a use for this idea. if you leave doors open and there are
enemies they may follow you in. if you close the door they'll stay back...

If you listen closely, you can tell when you enter another room. If you
use the r key as you walk, you will notice that a step is missing. That
is the point at which you move from one room into another through an open
doorway.

Hi,
I would say that feature adds a bit more to the realism of the game. I
would find it interesting to have it.
Also it helps not getting lost sometimes. If you for example don't have a
torch and walk through one room and into the next, it is hard to tell
when the old room ends and the new room begins. Just close the door, and
you already know where you are.
