Hi Willem, Yes, indeed that does seam to be the problem. From what I have read on the SFML forum and have heard from the developer himself SFML doesn't like certain Windows display drivers and vidio cards. Sometimes updating or selecting a different display driver will fix the problem. In other cases it doesn't.
