Hi Greg, No. Arachne was a peasant girl who challenged Athena to a weaving contest. When Arachne lost she then tried to hang herself. Athena took pitty on the girl and changed her into the queen of spiders. Arachne is a half-woman half-spider creature of Greek mythology. In the game Arachne is in her giant spider form.
It was Lamia who was turned into a half-snake half-woman creature. Lamia was cursed and turned into a type of demon.
