Hi Lindsay, You might want to start with one of the smaller practice maps like jl1 or jl2. I haven't played them in a while but jl1, for example, only has 9 sectors three or four gold mines, three or for forests, and is small enough that the average game probably only lasts say 30 minutes or so. Plus by being small like that you can practice different strategies, different ideas, and figure out what works and doesn't work in a fairly short amount of time where one of the full sized maps would take you hours to complete.
