Hi Eleanor.

while I certainly appreciate that developing games for the Iphone is important, heck, I'm probably going to get one myself (lots of gamebooks!), i do think it'd be sad if people missed your pc games for want of a demo.

While the games page describes them, those descriptions could equally apply to interactive fiction or gamebook titles (yes I know your page mentions! video and sfx, but there's a big difference betwene mentioning and experiencing).

There are mistery works of standard if, and at least a few mistery gamebooks on the net I can think of, ----- albeit usually with a more supernatural theme like Bodies in the docks on fighting fantasy project.

thus, from point of view of a potential customer, there is a certain element of "why should I buy this game?"

that's why malinch, ---- for all I rather dislike their actually rather irritating promotional style and confusing website, have done at least one correct thing in selling works of interactive fiction, offering either full scale demos, or a 60 day money back guarantee.

Your games however have imho much more to offer even someone who is used to playing If and gamebooks than malinch's (the fact they're a third of the price and also that you don't beat your customers over the head with self congratulations helps a lot too), and it'd be nice if that was taken advantage of.

I may be able to have a bash at doing a recording myself, but I don't make promises at the moment, sinse I still have a thesis to finish and a couple of other bits of recording to do (for phil for instance), though i will do if I can.

I do however think a recording would help hugely, even just a standard mp3 file showing off a couple of rooms, talking to various characters with the menue system, and maybe a quick look at how the solution submission works.

all the best,

Dark.

Hi Dark - Thanks for the suggestion. John and I have had some conversation about using HTML5 on the website to produce demo-like trailers which would show just what you are talking about - the game features such as the videos, the sound and music and so forth. If that does not work, we will get back to you regarding the sound recording.

The HTML5 stuff would not take as long to do as some other alternatives we have talked about. We do want to minimize the time taken away from working on the IOS stuff though.
