Hi Oriol.
On the subject of developement, any chance of looking at the music/area
ambience issue?
some places, like gads' landing I get no music or ambience at all, ditto
with the middle of archais though I know there is music in those areas.
Other times the volume of music or ambience gets turned down to zero for
no
reason.
i've tried this on both my desktop and laptop, I've also tried this with a
fresh copy, and of course I've checked all the configuration settings with
the config command, but it still gets reset.
Any fixes for this would be great.
All the best,
Dark.

What are you talking about'
Of course I am developing mush-z; What your friend says is a complete
lie. I can develop more than ever now that it's summer and I'm nearly
done with university.

Hi.
I've just found something that will be of interest to gamebook fans, I
hope. Tinman games http://tinmangames.com.au/blog/ not only are publishing
their own books, but will soon be publishing electronic versions of the
original Fighting fantasy series of gamebooks by Ian livingston and Steve
Jaxon, such as the very famous warlock of firetop mountain, valt of the
vampire etc.
I've E-mailed the publishers of these books a couple of times, to discuss
producing accessible versions (especially as they host ameter gamebook
adventures themselves), but i've been ignored each time.
However now, they are producing electronic versions, even if just for the
iphone and Android platforms, (grrrrr!).
I am therefore interested to know whether the original books from tinman
games such as revenant rising and Temple of the spider god are accessible,
or could at least be made so, with screen reading options for Ios and
android.
If not, I definitely think someone with access to an Iphone should take
this up with tinman, sinse it would be fantastic if the original ff books
were finally! made accessible, not to mention Tinman's own books which
include some by authors people may recognize from the ffproject site, such
as simon osborn who wrote body's in the dock and curse of the Yeti.
Indeed, gamebooks are one of the things I'm looking forward to myself if I
ever get an Iphone, and access to the original ff books would be awesome.
Beware the grue!
Dark.

Spoiler space for the way to get into the Hufflepuff commonroom.
First as described, there is a series of large barrel tops in a row.
You need to knock on a specific top in a pattern matching the syllables
of
the name Helga Hufflepuff.
So it is 2 knocks, a pause and then three knocks.
If you hit the wrong one or with the wrong pattern, you get sprayed
with
vinegar.
As I wrote the game back about seven years ago I thought you would only
have
to speak her name.
So in the game version, I have three barrel tops and you need to figure
out
which one to hit.
Like all the passwords, I still have it in the passwords list for the
ground floor and basement.
So you go to the correct password and hit enter. I added the five knock
sounds to the sound file.

Cool! How do the barrel tops work, is there a code or something? Is
that
in the map menu?

I would be surprised if that's happening. I've seen the developer
on the game not that long ago. It's also not that hard to modify,
just looking at the alteraeon.xml file will give you all the
triggers that are used.

Everyone,
I've been updating Archais to help improve it. The biggest part of
this was to split the island roughly in half - right now, nearly all
of the level 26 and higher areas are on the eastern side of the
island, while nearly all of the level 25 and below areas are on the
west side. There are only two roads that link between the high level
and the low level section, and both roads are clearly marked.
Here are some of the things I've done so far:
- swapped the location of Trow and Azeroth keep, so as to put the keep
farther east
- updated the ice plane so that it's closer to a proper level 25 zone
- updated the fire plane so that it's closer to a proper level 27
zone. Note that the bottom level of the fire plane has been blocked
off - we expect to expand the lower levels substantially and make it a
higher level zone.
- svirfneblins in dragontooth have been raised in level
I've also gone through several other areas to try to level sanitize
them a bit better. I've got a lot of other stuff on the list today,
but probably not as much moving around of areas as yesterday.
Hopefully this will help in the future and make exploring a little bit
less dangerous.
