Hi John, Nope. I tend to get directly in front of that convoy and once I make some kind of distraction I gun straight for the flagship once its escorts are elsewhere. the principle thing about mission 17 is breaking up the convoy so you can get a good solid firing solution on the flagship. Otherwise there is always some other ship in your way and you'll have to waist time and torpedoes sinking them one by one. :D
