Hi Dark, You are correct. Homer wrote the Odyssey as well as the Iliad. Virgil transcribed the Odyssey into Latin about 800 years after the original was written. I don't have the exact dates committed to memory here, but most scholars believe the Odyssey was committed to paper around the late 7th century B.C. Of course, there is the endless debates who Homer was, weather Homer really existed, etc but that's way beyond the scope of this list. :D
