Just wondering if anyone has specifically tried something like this, and, if so, run into similar issues, sorted them out, etc. etc.?
Basically wanted to, for the hell of it, try set up something like possible LAN gaming session on my home network, to try out things like audioQuake, topspeed, sound RTS, etc. etc., and while my primary machine is a windows7 ultimate 64 bit machine, the other 2 machines on the wireless LAN networking arrangement here are both windows XP 32 bit, although the one machine might shortly be a form of dual boot windows XP/ubuntu linux machine, but anyway. Anyway, while I can handle file sharing well enough across network, and while made sure neither machine was specifically experiencing windows firewall blocking ports/connection requests, while trying out, for example sound RTS server instance on both windows7 and windows XP machines, the other machine can discover the game server machine, but, then seems unable to connect to it to then initiate the game play as such? My off hand guess would have been something like specific port being blocked etc., but, like said, no prompts are coming up, and am pretty sure turned off firewall on both machines, since one is also sort of a web server for certain things here, and other one is definitely a pretty clean, basic, newish windows XP installation. Do know/realise that some things like skype, etc. do also block/interfere with certain ports, etc., but also tried turning them off, etc. Either way, off hand, suggestions? Aside from that, one of my ongoing jokes behind the idea of trying out specifically games like topspeed, sound RTS and audioQuake over LAN gaming are that since am pretty sure they can all implement graphics rendering, thought it might be fun at some stage to set up LAN gaming where blindies can kick sightie butts...<smile> Stay well Jacob Kruger Blind Biker Skype: BlindZA '...fate had broken his body, but not his spirit...' --- Gamers mailing list __ [email protected] If you want to leave the list, send E-mail to [email protected].
