Hi dan.

did you go into settings and activate the compatibility mode? click on it, and then hit yes to do this.

If that isn't active the game screen won't have a lot of text on it, sinse all of the things like checking your status, the ship's sensor screen, even traveling are graphics. This was precisely why smugglers 4 needed a compatibility mode because on it's own the interface would be utterly unusable, unlike in s3.

Beware the grue!

Hi ryan.

The skills are a tree so you have to get earlier ones before later ones.
Unfortunately, what skills are earlier and what later isn't yet determinable

though I've had a word with niels about this, sinse if things like boarding

and fleet control which are pretty essential for etting a battleship are
skills you could be in a position where you could be unable to finish the
game.

For the moment you'll just have to try different skills and see which one
you can acquire.

As I said, this bit is still something of a work in progress.

So that I don't have to play through a ton of games and do lots of trial
and
error, do you know a good way to determine what skills are in what trees?
I'd like to buy boarding, but clicking on choose skill doesn't appear to
let
me. I assume it's because I need a lower skill first.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Ryan.

I've never had any problems at all ending turns in combat, so I wonder if
perhaps you are clicking on the right thing?

the option you want is called "end this turn" with Hal it is just after
the shield wratings of the two ships which makes it easier to find.

I can confirm that there are no bugs around this, which suggests to me
there is something up at your end, but having a shark free computer I'm
afraid I can't say what :D.

Perhaps someone who uses jfw can give more info on this, indeed as Tom
said

I think it'd be good if someone could create some jaws scripts for
smugglers.

They would work in s4 and s5, because the games have the same interface, and the games are so good it's a shame for people to miss out on them due

to

screen reader issues.
