Hi Thomas.

Many thanks for your comments and suggestion regarding Filfre. I have tried using it but find it little more accessible than WinFrotz, so I'm not sure whether there is something I should be doing but am not. Could any JAWS users using this interpreter please chip in here as I'm tearing my hair out with this one. As for your suggestion re other systems etc., I've been playing Text Adventures for many years and am familiar with most of the other IF programming languages and interpreters, its only this ZCode game playing issue which is driving me nuts. I want to get my closest and dearest friend playing, however cant do so without an accessible and reliable alternative.
All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi Ibrahim,

If you are using Jaws a lot of Jaws users play the ZCode games such as
the Infocom titles using an interpreter called Filfre. Its available
from the IF Archive. I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard its
more accessible than Winfrotz.

Besides the ZCode games you may want to try other text adventures
written in AGT, Tads, Adrift, etc as you will find hundreds of games
to play from each type of text adventure. :D

Hi Everyone.

First of all, a big hello! to you all. My name is Ibrahim and I live in the UK in a town called Peterborough. I am totally blind and an avid gamer. I
particularly enjoy action/adventure games on both my PC and IPhone but am
eager to try all sorts of new games as I am very open minded. I am here
both to make new friends and help others, so I will be contributing as much
as time and opportunity allows.

Right, on to my question then. I used to play Interactive Fiction AKA text adventures years ago and want to do so once more. I’m particularly desirous
to play the classic Infocom titles and so am try to find an accessible way
to do this. I have tried Winfrotz as referenced by the audio games.net
website archive, however it doesn’t appear to work well with JAWS 13, for
though I’m able to read the status line, JAWS wont read the textual
description of the location and objects etc..

Please could anyone tell me how i can resolve this, either by using a
different interpreter or via another method?

All the best, Ibrahim.
