Hi Kieth.
At basic level the weapons differ in complexity and damage, and your skills
at the start with various weapons aren't equal. so a mace does most damage
(1 D10), but has little complexity and is therefore less likely to hit,
where as a sword does slightly less damage but has greater complexity.
However when you get into various adventures and custom weapons you can
find pretty much anythhing with any level of complexity or damage
depending upon the adventures designer, and grendel sells good versions of
all the weapons, so yes, once you get some experience the type matters less.
however, you don't want to run across a really damaging weapon that is
waaaaaay better than your current one and not be any good with it, so as you
said, it's always wise to have variety in the skills, albeit that weapon
types don't practically make a difference in mechanics terms, as in the
original versions of D&D they are only defigned by their individual stats
and not by any over all stats for each type.
Beware the grue!
Dark.

Subject: [Audyssey] question about weapon types in EMON games
Hey, is there really a difference between weapon types in the EMON games?
I mean, do certain weapons work better against certain enemies? Or is it
just a "game filler" so to speak.
I know some enemies carry certain weapons, and you don't want to get
caught in an adventure with no weapon, so I guess it's better to have some
skill with all weapons, but I'm just wondering.
Thanks
Keith
