Well there are several options with items. mages can learn a spell (I
think it's called bigby's floating disk), which can carry more items than
your inventory limit. Alternatively you can get weigthless containers by
donating to the game where you can put anything up to the containers'
volume in there and it won't count to your inventory (this is what I've done
myself).
then, you can pay for wrental of a storage locker, which again takes
credits from donation, which can hold items I believe, but sinse I'm quite
happy with my weightless container I've never found a need to do this.
of course, at the start of the game you shouldn't be carry too much anyway,
just weapons and armor you might be considdering wearing or using.
