Thank you for answering. I'm now running linux-2.6.11 + inotify-0.20-rml-2.6.11-1 with enabled CONFIG_PREEMPT and CONFIG_PREEMPT_BKL without a crash. My understanding of the warning message "kernel: scheduling while atomic: gam_server" was that this would be an application problem. Only the 100+ messages per second would then trigger the kernel OOPS after a we seconds, sorry for the wrong bug report. Thank you.
