My inclination is to leave the decision of resizing existing RRAs to the
admin.  There are tools available to easily handle that, if that is
indeed what the admin wants.  But some people may want to change the
step size while leaving existing RRAs untouched.  I think its safer if
gmetad doesn't force a particular choice on a user if it doesn't need
to.

But if you have a patch to implement the "dynamic default" scheme you
mentioned, I would love to see that included in Ganglia.
