Have I asked this already? Well, if so, I'll ask it again in its own thread:
Have any tests been done to determine whether RRDtool is, in fact, faster when you open it in "remote control" mode (i.e. as a named pipe) and shovel data into/out of it that way? On the surface it seems that it might not be worth it but surely this would allow for an internal locking mechanism - perhaps some efficiency can be gained there?
I suppose this depends on how good/bad the librrd interface is...
