i think the idea of having an embedded web server in gmetad (gangliad) is
great but i might have been a little too excited about the idea of moving
all the web content into it.  based on my experiences of the last few
days, i will say now that we have to keep apache/php.  we'll just use http
(text/xml) to get the data to the web frontends.  that means that any web
frontend can plug into the data of a remote gmetad (gangliad) given the
permission.  http will also allows to have authentication (over ssl of
course) to help with that authentication.

why didn't anyone out there say... ah.. matt.. you are crazy to think you 
can move all the web content into gmetad?    :)
