I agree with Jason. Although most of the time it is not a big deal, we
need small rrds in certain important cases.
We have two monitoring nodes that collectively keep rrds for 1500
nodes. We dont need to keep hourly info for the year, but perhaps only
for a month. Can we make a config file parameter to set that bar.

keep in mind that the disk io is not going to go up.. it will drop
significantly given the new design.
