FYI folks...I've just gone round and round for the last two weeks trying to figure this out. Apparently the gmond block Apple Remote Desktop from installing packages on the node in question whenever gmond is running. From my brief readings on ARD, it uses network broadcasts to distribute the packages for installation and somehow the gmond gobbles that up.
