Is there any plans on what technology this will be based? I guess whatever protocol is used must be self-describing to avoid the client-server match problem. Is the plan to migrate the current protocol.x so all metrics (core/gmond and gmetric ones) use the same representation? One could simply place as many metrics into a UDP packet as will fit.
