I'm not sure if anyone else sees this sort of thing, but here goes.
(apologies if there's a better solution already)
Sometimes we'll move a box from one cluster to the other cluster. The former
cluster won't know that it's not a member anymore,
and the only way to 'clear out' the moved host from the old cluster is to stop
gmetad, restart gmond on the old cluster boxes (all of them),
blow away the rrd file (or move it) from the rrds dir on the gmetad host, and
restart gmetad. Sort of a painful process.
It certainly would be cool to be able to send some sort of 'purge' command to a
cluster to 'clear out' a dead host...thoughts ?
