Hi Brad, you are right. 3.0.X should only take [critical] bug fixes by now. Maybe some obvious optimization. New functionality belongs into trunk.
Rules for the web-interface might be more relaxed, as changes there do not endanger the monitoring-core framework. But that is my personal feeleing.
