Hi,

Here's a simple patch for gmond/gmond.c to chop domain names off the ganglia web interface and, incidentally, the gstat output. It may be too much brute force for some sites, but I've seen a few other messages asking for this, so it could be of general interest nonetheless.

Rationale: I needed it for reasons of screen real estate of the web interface on a public monitor (physical view). Tweaking the resolver, e.g. via /etc/hosts as suggested by Alex Balk (in 2006-01-05 on ganglia-general) is not possible for a number of reasons -- the file is used as input for DNS, FQDN are needed for ssh host keys, and FQDN should canonically come first anyway :-).

Regards, Michael
