Ok, I've now modified libmetrics/configure.in so that it adds 
"-Wl,-bexpfull" to LDFLAGS for all AIX systems - the r2239 snapshot is 
in the same download location,

As before, this branch should be valid for all platforms, not just AIX

I also saw your ibmpower module, I haven't included that in the branch 
yet, I think we need to have a separate debate (maybe another thread) 
about maintaining modules outside of the main tree.
