Amazon EC2): 1) Most cloud environments do not support multicast, which is the default setting for gmond 2) Hosts in cloud environments are dynamically provisioned and brought down at will. Ganglia was designed for monitoring servers that are mostly static, i.e. hosts that are brought up are supposed to stick around until they are decommissioned years down the road For 1), the simple workaround is to use unicast. For 2), don't quite have a good solution yet.
