Would I be correct in understanding it is: a) tweak versions in configure.in, ... b) update release notes file c) tag d) check out the tag e) run the `make dist' command f) upload the generated tarball Also, I notice this in configure.in: AC_REVISION([$Revision$]) Maybe a leftover from SVN, any logic like this probably needs to be replaced with something that checks the git tag (or revision if not building from a tag) - has anyone seen any good examples of how to do this in other projects?
