Matt,

you need to specify your gmond data sources in
/usr/local/gmetad/etc/gmetad_sources

Thanks. Now I am getting a graph.

when you "telnet quad0 8651", the server thinks you have the same i.p. as quad0 which may or may not be a trusted host ip. you need to do a "telnet 127.0.0.1 8651" to ensure that the server knows you are local.

The "telnet 127.0.0.1 8651" works too.

I am sure my problem is not knowing how to start gmetad.
Can someone please give me advise?

to start
/etc/rc.d/init.d/gmetad start

I installed via tar file. There is a perl
gmetad, but I did not find an "init" gmetad.
I did a "find /usr /etc /scratch" (I untarred,
configure/make/make_installed the tar from /scratch)
but I only see a gmetad perl script.

Any more works of wisdom?

Thanks,
Joe
