Hi Matt + list,

One other small unrelated thing - From your documentation:

"If you want to monitor a node but do not want it to show up in the list
of hosts returned by gmond for gexec use, simply start gmond on that node
with the --no_gexec option."

This option is unsupported at the command line, but it does work in the
gmond.conf file.

The documentation hasn't (AFAIK) received significant attention since 2.3.x of the monitoring core, before the switch from command-line configuration to flat-file configuration. So it's rather in need of updating. (hopefully I didn't just volunteer by mentioning it ... )

Anyway, hope this info is useful. If I can do anything to help out, lemme
know. We have one SuSE 8.0 box here that I am going to start playing with
the ganglia stuff on it too. SuSE 8.0 has a lot of differeces from 7.3
since they are moving to be more LSB compliant. Most of this 7.3 stuff
will probably not work on 8.0.

Ah, the mad mad mad mad world of Linux distros. You gotta love it. I'm amazed there isn't a GNU autoinstall project by now to handle the differences between platforms, releases, and revisions.

[Hmmmm ... ]

I am going to tackle the web frontend in the next couple of days, and I'll
let you know how that goes.

Heh. Good luck. Installing the very very first version on a Sun box was not a cakewalk for me (sorry, Matt, but it wasn't :) ).
